Adventures in laser cutting. More piccies tomorrow (if I remember to bring my camera in!)

Finished drawing from last week. My current project is about the body, I’ve been exploring the idea of the metamorphosis, primarily the story of Daphne and Apollo. I’ve started working on this in illustrator with the hope I can laser etch it onto wood. Exciting times!

Today’s work in progress. Not really sure how I feel about it yet. 

I made cushions you guys. 

I got the fabric and inner cushions from Ikea and they were super easy to make. I just hope my dog doesn’t eat them. 

I’ve done 4 pages of drawing today for my new project :) this one of Becky is my favourite.

We played with inks last night. This one looked kinda like a deer so I made it a deer :)

Watercolour silkscreen print onto calico. My teacher was pretty sure this wouldn’t work, but I gave it a go as an experiment and it turned out much better than expected- it really looks like it’s been painted onto paper! I think the only other way I’d get tone and detail like this onto fabric would be to use the digital printer, which takes way longer and is uber expensive. They only had lightweight calico in stock but I think something heavier will pick up more detail for next time. I’m pretty proud of myself for doing this; experimenting with techniques is something I really love and I haven’t had a mess around doing something new for ages!

Finished my fourth figure today. I thought the circular stitches would be immensely difficult, I used a stem stitch and they didn’t turn out too bad. There’s a few French knots dotted about the place as well. Halfway there now. 

Shout out to the empty packet of Space Raiders at the side. As you can see my diet’s going well. 

Tonight I will mostly be drawing.
